St Monica's Lodge, Zanzibar, Tanzania

Located in the heart of Stone Town on the site of one of the most historic and beloved places in all of Zanzibar – The Former Slave Market, an International Site of Conscience!

St. Monica’s rests in the heart of Stone Town, just minutes from the airport. We are close to everything you want to do! Beaches are within walking distance, shopping is just outside our front door, and a Spice Tour or Jozani Forest adventure with its unique red colobus monkeys are just a short ride way.
St. Monica’s is situated in a beautiful spot, rich with intriguing Saracen architecture and lush gardens. The Atrium rooms with balconies overlook the gardens and sit atop the former slave chambers. It is forever a part of history, a reminder of those who struggled for freedom and a hope for the future.

At St. Monica’s you will feel you are on historic and holy ground. After the abolition of slavery in 1873, the Slave Market land was purchased and Christ Church Cathedral established. You will feel the story of redemption and humanity’s heart for freedom and dignity come alive!

A few steps from all dala dala stations and Darajani market.
