Learning Support Coordinator

As the Learning Support Coordinator at Bingham Academy, you will lead and coordinate the school's Learning Support program, helping ensure students receive the support they need to thrive academically, socially, mentally and spiritually. You will advocate for students receiving learning support while partnering closely with teachers, teaching assistants, parents, and school leadership. Through collaboration, training, and appropriate referrals to external specialists, you will help build a school community where every student is known, supported, and equipped to reach their God-given potential.

ABOUT BINGHAM ACADEMY:
Founded in 1947, Bingham Academy is a Christian international school in Addis Ababa serving students from Ethiopia, missionary, and international families. The school provides quality Christian education within a diverse, multicultural community and equips students to influence the world for God's glory.

SOME KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Advocate for the Learning Support program and the students in its care
• Ensure a consistent whole-school approach to meeting the academic needs of students with learning differences
• Supervise the universal screening of all elementary school students three times each year and collate the results to be sent to teachers
• Facilitate the identification, referral, and evaluation of students who may need Learning Support services
• Ensure up-to-date documentation of all students receiving Learning Support services
• Communicate regularly with Elementary and Secondary Leadership Teams
• Review and update Learning support policies and procedures as necessary
• Together with the Learning Assessment Specialist (internal or external) evaluate whether or not a student qualifies for a Cambridge, SAT, and/or ACT accommodation, consulting with the examination board as necessary
• Maintain proper certifications
• Participate in student chapel regularly and other school activities outside class time according to interest and need

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, or related field
• Teaching certification/license
• Experience with learning support and/or educational psychology
