History Teacher (Secondary)

As a Secondary History Teacher at Bingham Academy, your mission is to engage in transformational education - teaching your subject matter with excellency while developing students holistically, cultivating wisdom, nurturing character and equipping the next generation to serve their communities and influence the world.

ABOUT BINGHAM ACADEMY:
Founded in 1947, Bingham Academy is a Christian international school in Addis Ababa serving students from Ethiopia, missionary, and international families. The school provides quality Christian education within a diverse, multicultural community and equips students of integrity to influence the world for God's glory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in related subject
• Teaching certification/license
• Able to teach more than 1 subject in the social studies department (negotiable)
• Experience in teaching the skills aspects of these courses (e.g. dissect and teach historiography)
• Experience with teaching Cambridge Curriculum. IGCSE and/or A-Level (desired, but negotiable)

SOME KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum and the school's educational goals
• Create a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom and manage it in a consistent, restorative, and Christ-centered manner
• Integrate a Christian philosophy of education and model Christlikeness in relationships with students, parents, and colleagues

VOLUNTEER SUPPORT:
At Bingham Academy, all of our expatriate staff serve as missionary volunteers (raising their own funds). Bingham Academy cares about your well-being and wants to make your transition to life in Ethiopia easier. Subject to the applicable volunteer agreement and school policy, support will include:
