ChaplaincyPlus is entering an exciting new season of growth, building on its strong foundations formed over the last 20 years.
During this time, a vibrant and engaged Network of Christians from Birmingham’s business community has developed, and regularly gather in 1:1s, Network Groups, and larger events, to support, encourage, enable and equip each other to better live out their faith in the workplace.
As we move forward into this new season, the charity’s vision and purpose is to continue to support this Network, to see it grow and thrive through its framework of activities, so that Christians of all ages working in Birmingham have spaces and places to come together and support each other to live out their faith as Christians in the workplace.
Taking into account changes to the working environment, and the different way people want to engage with activities, the role of the ChaplaincyPlus team going forward will be to enable and support the Network to continue to deliver and expand its activities in line with the charity’s strategic objectives which are:
1:1 Listening: providing a prayerful, one-to-one pastoral support service to working Christians
Community: Combatting workplace isolation by creating community
With an approach that is responsive to the views, needs and engagement of Network members, i.e. ‘letting the Network lead in meeting the need’, the ChaplaincyPlus team will be responsible for providing the necessary support so that:
- Network Groups, led by a voluntary steering group of members, continue to thrive, and new ones emerge as need is encountered
- People from the Network are recruited and trained to be part of the team of volunteers providing 1:1 pastoral support
- Members of the Network continue to be involved in organising and running events, large or small, such as the Carols for the Business Community service at Christmas and bi-annual Network gatherings
