Saturday Football Coach (Assistant)

Kingdom Heritage Academy

  • Posted 3 Sept 2026
  • Closing Date 7 Sept 2026
  • Location Bracknell
  • Location Type Location-based
  • Finance Salary or Allowance
  • Salary £13 per hour
  • Job Type Part-time

The Role

You'll work alongside our lead coach on Saturday mornings, running football sessions for our youngest groups — ages 18 months to 4.5 years, with a parent or carer staying alongside their child throughout.

Day to day that means setting up and packing down, leading warm-ups and small-sided games, keeping the energy high, learning every child's name, making sure every child gets plenty of ball time — and helping deliver the short character moment that closes each session.

Hours: 8am–12pm every Saturday — a guaranteed minimum of 4 hours a week

Pay: £13 per hour plus holiday pay — above the National Living Wage at every age

Where: Ranelagh School, Ranelagh Drive, Bracknell RG12 9DA

When it starts: paid induction and training on Saturday 12 September 2026; our first session with children is Saturday 19 September

Pattern: all year round, roughly 48 Saturdays a year — we take a couple of bank holidays plus Christmas and New Year off

Growing: as the academy expands there will be additional midweek hours, and current coaches get first refusal

What we provide

Full academy coaching kit — yours to keep

Safeguarding training and the FA Introduction to First Aid course, paid for, before you start with children

After a successful probation period, we'll pay for your FA Introduction to Coaching Football qualification

Your enhanced DBS check, paid in full

A proper paid induction day, and a lead coach alongside you every session — you're never thrown in

A written reference, and real weekly experience with under-5s

Who we're looking for

You don't need coaching experience. You need to be the kind of person who turns up, gets stuck in and is good with small children.

We'd particularly love to hear from you if you're studying, or on the pathway towards, sports coaching, PE, early years or nursery work — this is genuine, paid, weekly experience with children, with the qualifications and the reference to go with it.

Essential

A practising Christian, happy to work in and contribute to an openly Christian environment (see note below)

Warm and confident with young children — and comfortable with their parents watching

Active, energetic, and a real can-do attitude

Willing to learn, take coaching and be coached yourself

Reliable — Saturday mornings are the whole job, so we need someone who will be there, week in, week out

Aged 18 or over, with the right to work in the UK

Available for the paid induction day on Saturday 12 September

Nice to have — but we'll train you

Any experience with children: nursery, Sunday school, holiday clubs, youth work, younger siblings

Any coaching or first aid qualification

Playing experience at any level

Occupational requirement

Kingdom Heritage Academy is an organisation with an ethos based on the Christian faith. Because this role involves leading children in the character and faith content that sits at the centre of every session, it is an occupational requirement that the postholder is a practising Christian, in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. We ask all applicants for a reference from a church leader.

In every other respect we welcome applications from everyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, sex, disability, marital status or background, and we'll make reasonable adjustments at every stage — just tell us what you need.

Safeguarding

Kingdom Heritage Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and expects every member of staff to share that commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Any offer is subject to an enhanced DBS check including the children's barred list, two satisfactory references, proof of identity and right to work, and completion of our safeguarding training.

How to apply

No formal CV needed. Email [email protected] with:

A short paragraph on why this role, and what you're doing at the moment

Anything you've done with children or in sport, however informal

The name of a church leader who knows you

A contact number

Closing date: Monday 7 September 2026. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal video interview that week.

Please mention OSCAR when responding to this opportunity.
