Mission Partner | OSCAR

At Wycliffe Bible Translators we are driven by the conviction that no-one should be left behind, no-one should be excluded from God’s invitation to salvation through Scripture. But 1 in 5 people are still waiting for the Bible in their language. That significantly hinders worldwide mission and the growth of the Church. Bible translation needs many people with different skills, and our mobilisation team is ready to help you discover if your skills could be used to unlock God’s word. We need:

Language-based roles:

● Linguists working with local translators to help them understand how their language works

● Language surveyors assessing where the remaining translation needs are

● Greek and Hebrew specialists helping local translators to ensure the translation is consistent and accurate to the original meaning

● Translation consultants providing quality assurance checks with translation teams

● Font designers making new fonts for use with languages that don’t yet have a means of representing their language in writing

● Typesetters and publishing consultants making translations ready for publication

● Scripture engagement workers helping adults and children to engage with scripture

● Media workers making Scripture available in radio, cartoons, videos and other media

● Literacy workers enabling communities to gain literacy skills to read Scripture

● Scripture app builders enabling people to access Scripture online

Wider roles:

● HR roles

● Security advisers

● IT support

● Finance workers

● Counsellors

● Tutors and children’s workers

● Leaders and managers

● Staff care workers

● Project and programme managers

● Fundraisers

● ...and more!

We are a friendly team, ready to support you as you explore the possibility of serving with Wycliffe. We’ll help you learn more about what roles your skills and experience could be used for, where you could serve, and the community and support structures that would be in place to help you thrive.

Please see our Job Pack for more information on the character and skills we are looking for, and read our Serving with Wycliffe booklet to help you understand what becoming a Wycliffe Mission Partner would look like.
