Head of Maintenance is responsible for ensuring that the Lee Abbey buildings, grounds, and facilities are safe, well-maintained, and operating efficiently. The role covers all aspects of routine buildings maintenance work, overseeing Lee Abbey’s private water supply and sewage treatment works, as well as planning and managing the effective delivery of key projects each year.
The Head of Maintenance will have an eye for the future in planning maintenance schedules and the replacement and upgrading of key services. They will ensure compliance with the relevant legislation and standards at all times and bring key concerns to the attention of the Head of Operations.
The Lee Abbey buildings and estate have a rich historical and environmental heritage. Duties should be carried out in a way which is consistent with the Christian attitude to conservation and sustainability as far as possible. This role oversees all maintenance activities, manages maintenance staff and contractors, and ensures the environment supports a peaceful, welcoming experience for guests and the community.
We are open to exploring this role as a residential community member or as a local worker. Although the role of Head of Maintenance will be your main responsibility, as a community member you will also take an active role in the worship, creative and serving aspects of our life in community and welcoming guests to Lee Abbey.
All members of community receive full board, accommodation, and basic toiletries, alongside an allowance package and pension. For local workers there is appropriate salary and pension.
