We are seeking a passionate and qualified French Language Teacher to join our Modern Foreign Languages Department. The ideal candidate will teach French and preferably also Spanish language and culture across Middle School (Std 7–9), GCSE/IGCSE, and A Level, promoting a positive learning environment and fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of the French and Spanish language and Francophone and Hispanic cultures. The ability to offer other subjects will also be considered; The ideal candidate should be willing to contribute to an additional subject or area of support as part of a full timetable.

Responsibilities: Number of Weekly Lessons The French/Spanish Teacher will be responsible for teaching across the following levels: • Middle School French and Spanish (Std 7, 8, 9): (foundational skills). • GCSE/IGCSE French • A Level French or Spanish: (advanced language, literature, and culture). 1. Teaching • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated language lessons across all levels, using varied methods (communicative approach, immersion, technology, cultural projects) to suit diverse learning styles. • Prepare students for Cambridge public exams (IGCSE/A Level), including mock exams and targeted revision. • Foster interactive, student-centred learning to build speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. 2. Curriculum Development • Develop and update the French and Spanish schemes of work aligned with Cambridge syllabuses, incorporating real-world relevance • Create resources such as slides, worksheets, and multimedia materials

Classroom Management • Maintain an inspiring classroom environment with displays, resources, and organisation that promotes effective learning and the school's ethos. • Manage behaviour positively, building relationships with students from diverse international backgrounds. 4. Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring • Assess student progress through formative tasks (vocabulary quizzes, speaking assessments), assignments, and school exams. • Provide meaningful, constructive feedback and produce subject reports per the school calendar. • Track and support individual progress, especially for exam candidates. 5. Collaboration and Communication • Work closely with the Head of Modern Foreign Languages and other staff on discipline, pastoral care, and academic matters. • Communicate with form tutors, parents, and students regarding progress, particularly during subject choices. • Contribute to departmental meetings and whole-school initiatives. 6. Extracurricular and Pastoral Duties • Lead or support French and/or Spanish Club, cultural events, trips, or exchanges. • Participate in boarding/dorm duties, sports, or other co-curricular activities as per school needs. 7. Professional Development • Stay current with language teaching methodologies, Cambridge updates, and share best practices with colleagues. • Attend relevant training and contribute to school professional learning communities.

Requirements & Preferences: • Hold a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent) with specialisation in French and preferably also Spanish as a foreign language. • Native or near-native proficiency in French/Spanish (C2 level or equivalent). • Experience teaching French and Spanish at Middle School, GCSE/IGCSE, and A Level (Cambridge syllabuses preferred) • Strong understanding of Cambridge assessment criteria and exam preparation. • Commitment to the school’s ethos and willingness to contribute to the school's pastoral life.
