
1. To ensure that we better reach a demographic of Sylheti people that we are not very good at reaching currently, namely male students and men in their 20s and 30s.
2. To open the Bible with Sylheti men.
3. To see Sylheti men come to Asha Sunday meetings.
4. To help Sylheti men to grow in their understanding of Jesus.
5. To develop Asha’s digital outreach.
· To spend time with Sylheti men where they are, eg university campuses, cafes, sports centres, mosques etc.
· To open the Bible 1-1 and in small groups with Sylheti men who are willing to do so.
· Joining in with book tables, door-knocking, short-term teams and other outreach activities organised by Asha teammates.
· Leading a Bible study for Sylheti men when rota-ed for a discussion week.
· The percentage of time spent on in-person outreach will be discussed at interview, set at appointment and reviewed after a probationary period.
· To make frequent use of digital media to reach Sylheti young men, either through devising your own material or re-posting others’ existing material or asking Team members to create new material.
· To engage with people who respond online to our Facebook, Instagram etc accounts.
· To develop ideas for flyers and tracts for printing and distribution.
· The percentage of time spent on digital outreach will be discussed at interview, set at appointment and reviewed after a probationary period.
· With the elders, to help equip others at Asha to be Jesus’ witnesses among Sylheti people.
· With the elders, to help devise and put on events at Asha.
· Join our Sunday meetings, seeking to hear from God and serve others.
· Come to Tuesday evening home group looking forward to speaking the truth-in-love and being built-up by others doing the same.
· Attend Team meetings on Wednesday lunchtimes, providing helpful feedback and a willingness to pray.
· To spend time learning the Sylheti language.
· To spend time in training how to teach the Bible cross-culturally.
· Fixed-Term (3 years full-time or longer part-time, with the possibility of extension, funds permitting).
· Up to 42 hours work per week (the equivalent of 6 days, with Saturdays as a day off), if full-time.
· £30-35,000 per annum (depending on experience) full-time, and pro rata if part-time.
· 6 weeks of holiday per year (1 of these weeks must be taken at Christmas and 1 of these weeks must be taken at Easter).
· There is a 3 month probationary period.
