International China Concern

Agency | UNITED KINGDOM

IN 1993, A NEWBORN GIRL WAS ABANDONED IN A CHINESE ORPHANAGE.

SHE DIED WITHOUT A NAME, WITHOUT A FAMILY. She lived for less than 24 hours.

But her short life touched one man and he started International China Concern.

International China Concern was founded in 1993 by David Gotts after seeing first hand the suffering of children with disabilities who had been abandoned and left in desperate conditions.

In the beginning, ICC sent short term China Teams into China to help give care in government welfare centres. Later, permanent locations were established to provide full-time care for children in Changsha, Hengyang and Sanmenxia.

When ICC began in 1993, abandoned and disabled children in China had a bleak future.

These are some of the situations we discovered then:

  • 80% of the children left in orphanages could die there.
  • 4 - 5 babies to a crib.
  • Very little eye contact. No cuddling.
  • 1 staff for every 30 children.

International China Concern's mission is to give love, hope and opportunity to every disabled child. We can only accomplish this goal with help from people all around the world - people like you.

HERE ARE 6 WAYS WE HELP

  • RESCUE KIDS
  • PREVENT ABANDONMENT
  • TRAIN CHINA'S CAREGIVERS
  • FEED, HOUSE & LOVE
  • PROVIDE EDUCATION
  • FUND SURGERIES
