School Counselor-Virtual Part-Time!

▪ Provide mental health and wellness counselling 1:1 with students, as well as in small
groups either upon referral or observation
▪ Facilitate socio-emotional groups
▪ Participate in multidisciplinary meetings
▪ Develop youth leadership/empowerment
▪ Provide feedback to parents where consent has been given (as per policy)
▪ Liaise with outside service providers in a professional manner, using consent to release
(make referrals as per our policy), as needed to support students
▪ Provide crisis assistance, stabilisation, safety plans with individual students
▪ Identify and assess needs
▪ Develop treatment plans, behavioural plans for individual students
▪ Provide ongoing assessments
▪ Address classroom needs around topics such as bullying/harassment, healthy coping
strategies, etc.
▪ Conduct mental health screenings
▪ Provide consultation to teachers and administration as requested
▪ Build relationship and trust across the student body to encourage emotional safety so
students can reach out
▪ Provide individual student support in the classroom as it relates to socio-emotional need
▪ Liaise well with Learning Support Department
▪ Encourage mental health awareness at the school over-all
▪ Provide and maintain a confidential environment, as per policy
▪ Update and maintain confidential student records and other department records
