Anew Retreats

Our small, intimate retreats are hosted at the charming Harmony House in Stillingfleet, York. Harmony House, dating back to the 17th century, has a rich history with the local church. Nestled in miles of peaceful countryside yet just a short drive from the vibrant historic city of York, Harmony House blends historic charm with modern comforts. We believe it’s the perfect place for you to relax and reconnect with God anew.

We have lovely selection of themed retreats throughout the year, and if one of the dates doesn't work for you, you can arrange your own personal or group self-led retreat at any time, depending upon availability of course.

Living a Life of True Worship (16 - 19 Sept) - Join us on an enlightening walk through Moses' tabernacle. Uncover how Jesus fulfilled every item's purpose for us, so that we might have direct access to our Father's throne room in heaven! FULL

Be Still and Know: A retreat of restfulness and trust (21 - 24 Oct) 

In the midst of life’s noise and distractions, this retreat invites you to embrace the stillness and reconnect with God. Inspired by the words, "Be still and know that I am God," this time is set aside for quiet reflection, rest, and renewal. A space to slow down, listen, and be refreshed by His love. An Art Sozo is included on this retreat.

Discovery Retreat (11 - 13 Nov)

Advent: A time of expectant hope (2 - 5 Dec)

As we enter the Advent season, this retreat offers a peaceful space to pause and reflect on the anticipation of Christ’s coming. It’s a chance to step away from the busyness of life and embrace the quiet expectation of hope, love, joy, and peace.

Our spring-themed retreat. A time to thank God for new life and to seek Him for the new thing. What might the Lord be birthing in you and through you at this time? Is there something that's been lying dormant in you, that He now wants to bring out into the open?

Living in Ressurection Life (14 - 17 April)

Living in Resurrection Life is a retreat designed to remind us that Christ’s victory over death changes everything. This retreat offers a space to slow down, step away from the noise, and allow God to breathe new life into weary places. It’s about living with hope when life feels uncertain, finding joy even in the ordinary, and leaning into the freedom He’s won for us.

In Full Bloom: Growing in God's grace (2 - 5 June)

Our summer-themed retreat. Sumer is a season full of life, warmth and promise. A time to thank God for His abundant blessings that He lavishes upon us. His mercy and grace abound! How might He bring you to maturity? Where will the Lord have you plant? What will it be - will you sow something quite specific or perhaps more widespread?

Overall Experience

Wow, just blown away with the location and the accommodation. Adele was a fabulous host and made you feel very welcome. Everything was 1st class, from the quality of the furniture and decor to the food. Breakfast was amazing, plenty of it, with a good choice and all delicious. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious and relaxing. The shower was fantastic, good pressure and able to control the temperature easily. The bathroom was very modern and very clean. The location was stunning, so quiet and peaceful and yet within easy travelling distance of York and all the attractions there. I would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about booking here – you will not be disappointed!

Our stay at Harmony House proved to be a time of refreshment and relaxation. Rather than opting for just taking a few days away my wife and I chose to participate in one of the occasional retreats Harmony House provide.

The attention to detail was appreciated, the accommodation very comfortable indeed, the food excellent and the hosts enchanting.

I would highly recommend Harmony House to anyone looking for a comfortable location to explore the area in general; but to anyone needing time and space to reflect on life and faith, I cannot commend Harmony House enough for creating an oasis for body, mind and soul.

Mary from our Winter Retreat 2023 says, I am still processing all that happened for me, as I got ill flu then busy when I got back home. Winter will not look the same to me again after the depth of teaching! I appreciate the gentle mix of those lovely ladies heading the devotionals, the gorgeous food and the conversation of the other participants!
My 'bridge' time was amazing and I am working through the meaning of what that means for me! All will be revealed soon!! 
Adele and Ros; A big thank you for the most wonderful blessing at Harmony House winter retreat...I felt the Lord's presence right from getting there! I needed the space to just be and listen. Song of Songs 8: 5-6 has really stayed with me. I needed to hear and reflect on how much God loves me too!

Jess (personal self-led retreat) says "My Name is Jess, Ive been married to my hubby (who is a C of E Vicar), for 18 years and we share the ministry; therefore we are pretty much in each others company 24/7.
It is very difficult to separate personal space out from parish life, when your office is in your house and your friends are your parishioners and when you live at the other end of the country from most of your relatives, you want to spend any holiday time with them.
I was asked by two separate christians wether I had ever considered spending time away from my family and parish, where I could just focus on myself with God…I hadn’t, so I remembered my sister had recommended Harmony House as a retreat and booked straight away for 2 nights..it was perfect.
Thank you to Adele and Hannah for their discreet love and care, Godly words of encouragement, prayer ministry and for giving me space and fabulous food!
