FURTHER INFO SECTION

The vision of Cairdeas – A world where palliative care is accessible by all in need.

Our mission is to promote and facilitate the provision of high-quality palliative care in the developing world where such care is limited.

Cairdeas seeks to work in partnership with organisations and individuals to empower sustainable developments in palliative care. We are needs-led and only work in response to requests from local colleagues. We provide expertise, education, training, mentoring and support.  In addition, we seek to influence policy makers by raising awareness of palliative care needs in the developing world with governments, NGOs, donor agencies and academic institutions.

Our values- We respect the integrity of each person: their faith, background and lifestyle. We are motivated by compassion inspired by the love of Christ.

The Cairdeas Board of Trustees seeks to welcome someone with financial experience and an interest in fundraising to join the Board.

The purpose of the role is to ensure that the charity’s finances and supporting financial control systems are robust and comply with relevant regulations.  The role works closely with the Finance Officer, the Medical Director and the Board of Trustees.  Day to day bookkeeping is all done by the Finance Officer. Any interest or experience in fundraising would be an asset. Experience of Palliative Care is not necessary, but any Trustee would need to be in sympathy with the ethos of this international and faith-based Charity.

The five Board members meet six times per year with at least one face to face meeting in the Central Belt of Scotland.
