Trainee Instructor & Discipleship Scheme
The aim of the Trainee Instructor & Discipleship Scheme is to provide training and as much relevant experience as possible, so that you progress towards having nationally recognised qualifications. With teaching, training and through opportunities to serve we believe our Team members can grow as Christians and develop a sense of calling in their lives. During your time here you would be part of our Team; living in community together, whilst we serve God and seek to show His love to our guests.
Qualifications
You will have the opportunity to gain some of the following qualifications:
- First Aid
- Archery GB Coach Award
- Canoe / kayak PSI and Coach Award
- Trail Cycle Leader
- RCI (Rock Climbing Instructor)
- Mountain Leader Summer
- Bushcraft – Professional Development Course
(Please note that this cannot be guaranteed. Like similar courses, the more you put in, the more you will achieve. For example, a candidate who is new to outdoor pursuits or is not prepared to gain experience on their days off is unlikely to achieve as much as someone with prior experience or who is prepared to get out and about as much as possible.)
You will also receive training and experience instructing our other on-site activities:
- High Ropes Course
- Climbing & Abseiling Tower
- Low Ropes Course
- Team Building/Problem-Solving Activities
- Environmental Studies
- Orienteering Activities
- Aerial Runway
- Crate-Stack Building
- Team/Wide Games
- Raft Building
General training and experience
During the two years we would also provide opportunities to gain a wider variety of experiences including:
- Working and living as a team
- Youth & Children’s work
- Preparing and delivering the Christian message in talks and group sessions
- General day to day Centre cleaning and maintenance.
Practical details
With our Christian ethos and the nature of the work at Min y Don there is an occupational requirement for applicants to have an active Christian Faith. Successful applicants will take part in weekly team prayer meetings and discipleship group as well as planning and delivering short teaching times to school and family groups on Christian principles and values.
We are not a Visa sponsoring agency, so you must have the 'Right to work i the UK'
Whilst many schemes of this nature ask you to raise the money and pay to join it – we enable you to live and work as part of the team. Your pay each month takes into account all your living expenses whilst you reside on-site here at Min-y-Don.
We do charge for sending you off-site to training and assessment courses run at other centres. The way that we make this more manageable is to ask you to pay a contribution of £50 per month into a personal training fund.
This means that when a course comes up, then you are likely to have most of the funds already set aside, rather than having to pay a large sum straight out of your wages.
You will also have holiday entitlement that will be arranged with the Centre.
No qualifications are necessary as this is a Training Scheme. However any qualifications and/or experience of Outdoor Activities already gained would be an advantage.
Min y Don is situated in a stunning area of the Snowdonia National Park. To learn more about the Centre and its work please visit minydon.com or call 01341 250433 or email holidays@minydon.com for further details and an application form.
