Trainee Instructor

Fellowship Afloat Charitable Trust

Recruiting now for Autumn 2025!

Every September FACT welcomes a new team of year-out staff, who are eager to live in Christian community and share their faith by serving our guests - we are looking for five trainee instructors to join our team.

Typically this exciting post is filled by students either before or after a degree, but is open to anyone who wants to share their faith whilst living in a faith-based community and serving a Christian charity.

Full training is provided during the year, with lots of opportunity to develop a whole range of skills for life - it is a life changing year. You'll gain qualifications in sailing, powerboating, archery, high ropes and more.

We ideally need sailors with RYA Level 3 or equivalent to get you started, and there will be plenty of opportunity to gather more training experience and qualifications through the year. While the focus will be sailing tuition there will be a dose of boat repairs and equipment care. The climbing wall, high ropes, kayaking, archery and team building games all need lots of enthusiastic leaders and also ideas for development. You'll have food & accommodation onboard Trinity along with a monthly allowance – and it will be the experience of a lifetime. Your Christian faith will have plenty of scope for exercise and development too.

Qualifications

Qualifications vary depending on the role applied for, however some of the attributes we might look for are:
• Evidence of a developing Christian faith with a hunger to grow and share it.
• Enjoy teaching, instructing and serving with a passion to see people of all ages succeed.
• Warm, welcoming and friendly demeanour.
• Keen to work in a team, both as a follower and a leader when required.
• Able to work hard and go the extra mile.
• Relevant experience and training for the role applied for.
