Lead Teaching Assistant
This is a hands-on classroom role where you will work closely with the Headteacher and teaching staff to provide tailored support to SEND students, lead small group interventions, and supervise a team of support assistants. You’ll also play a key role in safeguarding, behaviour management, and parent engagement.
Key Responsibilities

Provide in-class support for SEND students, helping them access the curriculum.

Lead small group or 1:1 interventions tailored to student needs.

Act as the first point of support for Teaching Assistants, offering guidance and mentoring.

Work with the Headteacher and staff to create an inclusive, nurturing environment.

Assist with planning, assessment, and progress monitoring.

Support with safeguarding procedures, behaviour management, and communication with parents/carers.
Essential Skills & Experience
✔ Experience working with SEND children and young people.
✔ Strong knowledge of autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and inclusive teaching strategies.
✔ Proven ability to support learning in small groups and 1:1 settings.
✔ Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
✔ Organisational skills with the ability to lead and motivate a small team.
✔ Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in an educational setting.
