Table Leader

Table UK

***IMPORTANT: Unless a UK-based job advert states otherwise, all applicants for UK roles must already have a right to work in the UK***

Join a Movement Sharing Jesus at the Table

Launched in 2022 by Paul Eaton and Alan Taylor from a house Church in Manchester, Table began as a bold experiment: could we create well-attended welcoming spaces where non-Christian 18–30s could explore faith around a meal?

What started small has become a growing movement. Across 8 cities, thousands have gathered in small settings: homes, restaurants, and outdoor spaces—sharing food, feeling a sense of belonging and ultimately, hearing the gospel. Many have confessed faith in Jesus, opened the Bible for the first time, and joined local churches.

Through Meetup.com, we’re now seeing hundreds join online groups and turn up in person—drawn by a  hunger for authentic community and spiritual exploration.

We’re now looking for passionate Christian leaders to take this mission further—people who can build teams, host well, and be the hands and feet of Jesus around Tables in their city.

  • Hours: 7.5 hours a week (flexible hours)

  • Funding: £5,000 12 month funded role for 1 day a week.

Table Leader – Roles and Responsibilities

Reports to: Table Support Lead (Alan Taylor)
Commitment: 1 day a week, with flexibility for additional time and volunteer hours as needed

Role Purpose

To lead and grow Table in your city – a community where non-Christian 18–30s can explore faith in a natural, conversational way, build friendships through hospitality, gatherings, and Bible Studies. Through consistent gatherings, prayer, and creativity, your goal is to gently guide young adults into a discipleship journey that could lead to baptism and long-term transformation.

Core Responsibilities

1. Spiritual Leadership & Team Formation

  • Regularly pray over your city and the 18–30s you’re connecting with.
  • Discern next steps in faith for attendees – this could mean inviting them to Bible study, a church service, or simply a deeper conversation.
  • Recruit, build and support a local Table team (ideal size: 5–10 people).
  • Communicate regularly with team members to build friendship, pray together, clarify roles and keep the vision fresh.
  • Gather your whole team at least once a term for vision-sharing, prayer, and connection.

2. Event Planning & Outreach

  • Create a calendar of events, scheduling 3 months ahead on Meetup.com. Include events to explore scripture off meetup.
  • Host at least 2 Meetup events a month and at least 1 event/group (not necessarily on meetup) for seekers.
  • Ensure a welcoming and warm atmosphere of hospitality and friendship at the events you and your team host.
  • Research new venues and activities to keep your events fresh and creative.
  • Meet with guests one-to-one (girls with girls, guys with guys) to build trust and deepen relationships. Also encourage the team to do this.
  • Take photos and videos during events to support marketing and storytelling for Table UK.
  • Design and lead a monthly Discovery Bible Study with your team for those interested in exploring faith more deeply.
  • Work through the Table UK Meetup Guide to make sure you’re on track.

3. Discipleship & Journey Design

  • Develop pathways for ongoing discipleship, helping attendees take steps in faith through one-to-ones, small groups, or joining church communities.
  • Track relationships, and interest levels to ensure that spiritual next steps are both intentional and personal. Use tracker spreadsheet.
  • Encourage the team to invite people into faith conversations naturally through the rhythm of Table events.

4. Admin & Governance

  • Submit monthly expenses in line with your allocated budget.
  • Keep a track of the number of attendees and stories. Add to tracker spreadsheet.
  • Invoice TableUK for your monthly hours based on a time tracking sheet.
  • Meet weekly with the UK team for encouragement, accountability, and support.
  • Meet the UK team in person once or twice a year.

5. Sustainability & Year 2 Planning

  • Begin exploring funding options for year 2 and beyond (grants, church contributions, local supporters).
  • Consider future leadership succession by identifying and developing potential future leaders within your team or city.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
We are looking for a person with a mature Christian faith, strong leadership and a variety of people/working skills to pioneer and grow Table in their city.
