He will develop a good working relationship with the Pastor, other elders, church staff, and team leaders. He will be given increased responsibility in areas of ministry that particularly suit his gifting - which we anticipate to be in areas of pastoral care and discipleship - but will be involved in the general leadership of the church at every level. We desire to have a man minister in the way God made him and which glorifies God. In particular, this includes:

  1. Leadership - The Pastoral Assistant will have a full share in shaping and implementing the church's vision to create an enabling safe environment where everyone will be embraced and supported. He will be expected to contribute fully to discussions about the church's mission and strategic development,

Pastoral care - The Pastoral Assistant will share the pastoral oversight of church members, and take a lead in facilitating aspects of more private care as appropriate in conjunction with the Pastor. We anticipate the Pastoral Assistant to possess a high level of emotional and cultural intelligence in sharing biblical wisdom with God's people
  3. Training - The Pastoral Assistant will use his skills and resources to help equip church members for works of service.  He will share with the Pastor and others in preparing and delivering training, but this will be a particular area of responsibility for him
  4. Preaching - The Pastoral Assistant will share part of the public preaching and teaching ministry of the church. Even though the role will focus more on pastoral care and training we anticipate that the associate will preach now and then
  5. Evangelism - The Associate Pastor will contribute wholeheartedly to the evangelistic outreach of the church. He will be gospel-hearted in his personal life and set an example to the church of personal witness His level of involvement in specific outreach activities will vary and play to his strengths.
