Future Pilot Programme - 2025
MAF UK is excited to invite you to apply for our pilot training programme intake for 2025 to assist people with a passion for mission aviation to join MAF and serve overseas.
Successful applicants will commence in 2026 and be supported to achieve the theoretical knowledge and practical experience necessary to obtain a Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) and a Command Instrument Rating (CIR).
Trainees will then go on to serve in an overseas MAF programme in Africa or the Asia-Pacific region.

Please note this scheme is only available to those holding full right to live and work in the UK with no restrictions. Candidates outside of the UK will be referred to the most appropriate MAF group.
Responsibilities
The Pilot Trainee will undergo specialised training enabling them to gain the theoretical knowldege necessary to obtain a CPL and CIR in line with the agreed training plan and subject to the terms and conditions of the training agreement and associated financial assistance terms provided.
Your key responsibilities during the programme will be to:-
- Participate in and complete a full programme of academic study that leads to qualification as a commercial pilot.
- Engage in all practical training activities relating to the programme of study.
- Keep appropriate records of any expenses incurred directly relating to the training so that proper financial accoutablity can be maintained.
- Engage in a partnership development programme of activities to help build a supporter base which will raise prayer, pastoral and financial support.
- Represent MAF at various events as a professional and trustworthy Christian Charity.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
We are looking for applicants to have:-
- A-levels including Physics and Mathematics to at least grade B or above
- 5 GCSE’s including English and Mathematics to at least grade C or above
- An Aviation medical – Class 1
- Minimum English proficiency level 4
- Ability to demonstrate holding a leadership position or responsibility in church, school or another spere.
- Ability to communicate clearly, assertively and diplomatically
- Ability to manage deadlines and priorities
- Demonstrate good attention to detail and can follow rules and instructions
- A high level of aptitude in verbal and numerical reasoning
- A demonstrated Christian faith commitment
- Full right to live and work in the UK with no restrictions (i.e. no visa requirements limiting numbers, type or duration of work)

There is an occupational requirement for overseas staff to be committed Christians, sent and supported by their home Church, and able to support and promote the Christian ethos and beliefs of MAF as a mission organisation through taking part in Christian activities such as Church events, prayer meetings etc. All roles (unless otherwise specified) require some personal support raising to be carried out under the guidance and training of MAF UK.
