General Description

The Deputy Head of School role is a crucial part of the School’s senior leadership team, contributing to the development and implementation of the School’s Registered Management Committee (RMC) Strategic Goals.

Key components of the position include:

  • Deputizing for the Head of School.
  • Godly spiritual leadership amongst staff and school community.
  • Commitment to ensuring the Lordship of Christ in all aspects of school life.
  • Leadership of staff to ensure effective and Christ-centred instructional practices.

Accountability and Functional Relationships:

The Deputy Head of School will be accountable to the RMC, Head of School and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Internal functional relationships are with:

  • Senior Leadership Team
  • Middle Leadership Team
  • Counselling Team
  • Teachers and Support Staff
  • Students

External functional relationships are with:

  • Parents and Guardians
  • Professional Associations
  • Other Educational Organisations
  • KTAC
  • RMC and CAIS Limited (School Sponsoring Body)

Matters that must be reported to the Head of School:

  • Breaches of Special Character and professional standards
  • Excess spending of allocated budget

The Candidate:

To qualify for the role, applicants should be a Christian leader with sound academic and teaching qualifications and experience, and demonstrated with academic leadership and relevant administrative experience.

Terms of Appointment:

The starting date for appointment is negotiable, and may commence from January 2026, or at a mutually agreed date, but no later than 3rd August 2026. Appointment will be made on a three-year fixed term contract with renewal subject to mutual agreement.

Note: Bachelor of Education, or bachelor degree in relevant major subject(s) with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education or equivalent teaching credential with a least 10 weeks’ practicum is required for CAIS teachers. Teachers appointed to CAIS are required to apply for Alberta teaching certification in order to teach subjects under the Alberta programs of study. Please refer to this link for more information on the requirements for Alberta teacher certification but do not apply until an employment contract is offered and accepted.
