Country Director - Timor-Leste

Mission Aviation Fellowship

Overview

Join us and be part of something extraordinary!

Since 2007, MAFI has been a vital lifeline in Timor-Leste, operating essential air services to support over 1.2 million people, many of whom live in extreme poverty. Our mission is to serve and transform communities by providing access to medical care, education, economic opportunities, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are currently seeking a Country Director to ensure that our activities have the greatest possible impact on those in need.

We are MAF, a Christian organisation that utilises aviation and technology to provide assistance and hope to underdeveloped communities around the world. Founded in 1945, MAF currently serves in 31 countries. MAF's history reflects a strong commitment to serving some of the most remote and hard-to-reach communities in the world. MAF's 116 aircraft, provide vital transportation services to medical personnel, development workers, and aid organizations across the globe. The organisation also delivers Bibles, church materials, and other resources to communities with limited access to Christian teaching and worship services.

Our Vision: To see isolated people changed by the love of Christ.

Our Mission: Serving together to bring help, hope and healing through aviation.

Responsibilities

Get ready to make a difference!

As Country Director, you'll dive into the heart of Timor-Leste, evaluating the impact of MAF's activities and fine-tuning our programme's service delivery to make every effort count. You'll craft and share a compelling vision for the programme, rallying your team around a common purpose. Keeping a close eye on the needs of isolated regions, you'll work hand-in-hand with government and non-government agencies to tackle challenges through aviation and technology. From mingling with church networks to hobnobbing with NGO and government development agencies, you'll forge partnerships that turn vision into reality. And yes, you’ll be our social media and communications champion, spreading the word about our mission far and wide.

In this dynamic role, you'll also be the go-to mentor for our national staff, guiding them to new heights through training and delegation. Your strategic projects will boost Timorese aviation capacity, creating a lasting impact. You’ll ensure your team is performing at their best and feeling supported, addressing any hiccups along the way.

Safety is your priority as you collaborate with the Flight Operations Manager and Chief Pilot to meet Civil Aviation Authority standards. From budgeting to human resource management, you’ll keep everything running smoothly, while promoting top-notch customer care and Christian witness. Plus, you’ll be our guardian of safeguarding practices and a beacon of spiritual leadership, setting an example for all.
