Classroom Music Teacher
Job Summary: The Classroom Music Teacher at Hebron School, Ooty, is responsible for providing high-quality music education to our students. This role entails teaching GCSE and A Level Music, as well as offering individual music lessons on an instrument in which the teacher is proficient. The ideal candidate should have a recognized qualification in Music Theory and Practice, along with teaching experience. Additionally, the teacher will participate in professional development activities, contribute to departmental responsibilities.
Responsibilities: ● Provide one-on-one music lessons to students who wish to learn an instrument that the teacher is proficient in. ● Teach courses across the school including Primary ages, KS3, and GCSE where numbers allow ● Foster a positive and creative learning environment that encourages students to explore their musical talents and interests. ● Plan and conduct music-related products, showcasing students' musical achievements. ● Collaborate with the Music Department to design, implement, and assess the music curriculum. ● Assess and evaluate students' progress and provide constructive feedback and support. ● Organise and participate in extracurricular music activities, such as choir, orchestra, or school performances. ● Stay updated on current music education trends, teaching techniques, and technological advancements in the field. ● Attend and actively contribute to professional development courses and workshops organised by the Music Department. ● Participate in department meetings, events, and initiatives as required.
Requirements: ● A recognized qualification in Music Theory and Practice (Bachelor's or higher degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field). ● Experience teaching music in a school or educational setting. ● Proficiency in playing at least one musical instrument and the ability to provide individual lessons. ● Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and performance. ● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. ● Passion for teaching and inspiring students to appreciate and excel in music. ● Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. ● Willingness to participate in professional development activities and contribute to departmental duties.
Preferences: ● Professional certification in Music Education. ● Experience in teaching music at an international school ● Proficiency in multiple musical instruments. ● Experience in organising and conducting school concerts and musical productions. ● Familiarity with educational technology for music instruction.
