Job Overview

This role forms an essential part of the Christian Vision Finance Team, which covers a broad range of finance related tasks on behalf of the CV group. This includes aspects of treasury, group accounting, statutory accounting and finance projects including the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

The areas for which the finance team are responsible for are summarised below:

  • Operational Finance
  • Internal Financial Reporting
  • External Financial Reporting
  • Budgeting & Financial Planning
  • Investment Strategy & Management
  • Financial Control
  • Finance Projects

Over time, exposure will be provided to each area within Finance, with the role holder working closely with the Corporate Services Manager to add value throughout the organisation in all aspects of accounting, budgets, financial stewardship and reporting. The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with relevant experience including the use of accounting systems and procedures, ideally along with leadership and management experience and strong interpersonal skills, being equally comfortable to work alone and a participator of a team.

The role requires an individual with a business or professional background, who has passion, courage, pace and tenacity to make a significant contribution to global Christian mission work.

Specific Operational Responsibilities will be assigned based upon existing skillset and a defined development plan to be agreed with the Corporate Services Manager, with an expectation that tasks will be rotated over time in order to broaden experience within the Finance team. This will also assist with the provision of cover for other team members and their duties when absent.

Performance will be measured against agreed targets based on the essential functions of the role, key goals and objectives and the values of the organisation.

Essential Skills, Experience and Education

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ICAEW) with accompanying experience, able to demonstrate fundamental knowledge of finance across a broad range of accounting issues.
  • The ability to demonstrate experience of organisational strategy, management of change and leadership of multi-disciplinary functions in a professional environment.
  • The ability to take responsibility and work autonomously, managing your time while staying accountable to the team.
  • Strong proven track record in budgetary control and working with a broad base of stakeholders.
  • Leading the team in prayer or devotional times and engaging with other spiritual activities as required.
  • Fluent in English (a second European or major language may be an advantage).
  • Authorised to work in the UK and is able to fulfil a full-time, office based position based from our Solihull headquarters in the UK.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in the charitable sector, social action projects and/or cross–cultural mission ventures.
  • NetSuite cloud-based ERP experience would be beneficial.
  • System implementation and project management experience would be useful.
  • A current passport with willingness and ability to travel overseas if required.
