Support Work (Highway House)

Highway of Holiness

Highway of Holiness church in Tottenham, London runs the Highway House Shelter (www.highwayhouse.co.uk) in the church premises. Since we opened our doors in 2009, over 900 people have been helped with shelter, food and counselling, along with the opportunity for much needed companionship with others. We help those who have fallen on difficult times in their lives and need a helping hand. This includes those who are some of the most disenfranchised in our communities and without our help, would simply not be able to access other shelters in London: including those with no recourse to public funds.

We are about to start a day centre that will run two days a week: Mondays and Fridays and are looking for people to spare a few hours on either days to volunteer as support workers. This role involves speaking to homeless guests to find out what their needs and concerns are and finding out how best they can be assisted. This may consist of helping them apply for benefits, applying for free courses for homeless people, filling in job applications, welfare benefit forms etc and job searches online.

Application instructions: If you are interested in this role please send us a cover letter and your CV to info@highwayofholiness.co.uk
