Journaling for Spiritual Growth (retreat)

Spiritual journaling is an ancient and rich practice that charts our journey with God. By capturing our moments, it helps us gain from the past, embrace the present and move with faith into the future. In its many forms, the journal can be a tool for learning and discovery and for helping to hear God’s voice. This is a retreat for anyone who wants to deepen their devotional life and is open to exploring that on paper. No special skills are needed; whether you have never tried journaling before or you are an old hand looking to discover fresh approaches, it promises to be a weekend that will inspire and equip.

The programme will include group sessions, offering reflections and sharing experiences, but with no expectation to read aloud. There will also be time alone for journaling, and the practical exercises will include opportunities to write outdoors. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the facilities of Kilmalieu, including the art room, chapel and wider landscape.

This weekend is ideal for those who:
- Want to try journaling but don’t know where to start
- Have tried it but got stuck and need a fresh approach
- Are enthusiasts but would like to discover new ideas

Participants need to bring:
- A notebook and pen
- Outdoor clothing
- A Towel (we are unable to provide these)

“Once again I’ll go over what God has done, lay out on the table the ancient wonders; I’ll ponder all the things you’ve accomplished, and give a long, loving look at your acts.” Ps 77:11-12 The Message

“Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later.” Rev 1:19

The day will be led by Merryn Glover. Merryn is a published author and a writer of journals, sacred and scrappy, since her teens. She is also an  experienced teacher, facilitator and retreat leader. The story of her writing and other work can be found on her website: www.merrynglover.com
