Secondary Visual Arts Teacher

Kathmandu International Study Centre, Nepal

Our vision at Kathmandu International Study Centre (KISC) is to be a living witness of Christ’s love through excellent education primarily for the children of those serving in Nepal. KISC is a multi-cultural community serving children from many different countries. Through our international K-12 school, students and staff will positively impact their world.

Many of our parents appreciate the varied opportunities our students have to cultivate skills and a passion for visual arts.  We are keen for our students to develop their creative gifts and talents and are looking for a visual arts teacher who can inspire our students to develop and explore in this area.  The position involves teaching small classes in Grades 6 to 12. Students in Grades 9 & 10 study the IGSCE curriculum and sit for the Cambridge examinations. In Grades 11 & 12, students sit for the AS and AL Cambridge examinations.

Your skills and experience will be valued and appreciated by eager learners who are encouraged to reach their full potential and by their families who are thankful for the provision of KISC because it enables them to do what God has called them to here in Nepal.  KISC, and this position within the school, has a strategic role in the work being undertaken in this beautiful country.

All of our expat staff are volunteers. We cover all visa costs, provide initial language learning and ongoing professional teaching development.  For those who commit to staying two or more years we provide the following support:  those with children receive a free child place; those without children receive the equivalent value support in the form of a living allowance (sufficient to live in Kathmandu), return airfares from your home country and school lunches.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Internationally recognised degree and teaching qualification
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral & written English skills
  • Self-motivated and adaptable with a high level of initiative
  • Knowledge of relevant curriculum and learning and assessment best practice
