Supervisory Classroom Teacher
Responsible to Department Head
The Supervisory Classroom (SC) Teacher provides classroom instruction that is superior in quality, consistent with Christian educational principles, in a multicultural context. The SC Teacher communicates their subject matter in a manner that reflects the school’s philosophy, mission, values and goals to achieve expected student outcomes.
Seek to be a role model in speech, actions, and attitudes modeling a consistent walk with Jesus Christ.
Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students and administration and is respectful and loyal to constituted authority.
Openly share God’s gift of salvation.
Nurture students’ faith and spiritual development.
Teach classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as directed by the administration.
Set terminal (year-end) objectives enabling/instructional (semester and quarterly) objectives. Utilize, develop, and submit to the Department Head weekly lesson plans based on enabling/instructional objectives.
Integrate Biblical principles throughout the curriculum.
Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to do his best work. Seek the help of the Department Head and Resource Teachers to meet special needs.
Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods and materials that will provide for creative teaching encompassing the whole child.
Plan, in accordance with administrative guidelines, field trips, guest lectures, and other media.
Use homework effectively.
Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide reports as required.
Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises.
Keep parents informed through regular communication and conferences.
Inform the Department Head if unable to fulfill any duty assigned. Prepare adequate information and materials for the substitute teacher.
Cooperate with administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
Maintain accurate attendance and grade records. Teachers must use the school's official information system (Sycamore) for entering quarter and semester grades and comments for reporting purposes.
Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned.
Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities and performances when possible.
Attend scheduled devotions, faculty meetings, and professional in-service training.
Seek the counsel of the Department Head, Resource Teachers, Principal, colleagues, and parents while maintaining a teachable attitude.
Demonstrate a willingness to cooperate with the Department Head and Principal to find solutions to problems.
Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
Supervise student teachers, aides, and volunteers as needed.
Perform any other duties which may be assigned by the Department Head.
Know and abide by the policies set forth in the Staff Handbook.
Bachelor’s degree or higher, with a degree in education or in the specific area of teaching.
Certified and classroom experience.
