Electronics Technician

The Electronics Technician volunteer position, part of the Engineering Department, will be located on the Africa Mercy, the world's largest non-governmental hospital ship.

Summary: Responsible for maintaining and repairing all electronic equipment on-board, primarily for the safe operation of the ship.

About the role: Mercy Ships cannot run our state-of-the-art hospital ship without properly functioning electronic equipment. The Electronics Technician works to safely maintain all electronic systems to ensure all crew and patients are safe and able to do their jobs on board the Africa Mercy

About you: (we can help you obtain or update certain certificates if necessary)

  • Successful completion of Security Awareness according to STCW A-VI/6-1 
  • Successful completion of Basic Training in accordance with STCW A-VI/1-1 to 1-4 (if joining for 6+ months)
  • Education and training showing evidence of a thorough knowledge of electronic equipment 
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate in clear English
