Community Projects Manager

Ratidzo Trust

Working closely with our centre manager, you will be going out into the community to manage our community income generating projects and to set up new inititatives.  You will be working closely with 5 rural schools, churches, the local hospital, community groups and individuals.  Projects range from poultry, goats, beekeeping to sewing groups and vegetable nutrition gardening.  You will also be responsible for setting up and running our community shop and organising any short term volunteers who come to our centre.  At various times of the year you could be involved in running children's holiday clubs, reading and homework groups.

This opportunity will really give you the abiity to get involved in the rural community, learning local customs and to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerble people.

No particular skills required, as you will be learning on the job, although some knowledge of livestock/agriculture would be an advantage.  You will need to be a team leader, able to work on your own initiative, be versatile, practical, a hands on person, have the ability to adapt to any situation and be a people person.  Shona and English are spoken locally, so an ability to learn languages, although not essential, would be beneficial.

You will have free accomodation at one of our small lodges at our centre, with solar power and running water (cold).  Cooking will be on gas stove or fire.  You will need to finance yourself.

It is not a must but if you are willing and able to raise some funds towards the charity's work, it would be greatly appreciated.

Please mention OSCAR when responding.
