Community Café Manager

Salary: €13.62 per hour (€28,329.60 per annum)

Job Summary: Dublin City Corps is a multi-cultural church community situated in Dublin city centre with a heart for mission. The Corps will soon be moving into a new building and will be developing a Community Café, a space intended to provide an alternate form of ministry for customers interested in learning more about the Christian faith. We are looking for an experienced Café Manager with a heart for their community and who, as a practising Christian is able to come alongside customers interested in learning more about Christianity and offer pastoral support.

Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will work with the Dublin City Corps Leadership team to set-up and launch a Community Café that operates from The Salvation Army Dublin City Hub. Following the opening of the Hub the successful candidate will then be responsible for the day to day missional and commercial activities of the Community Café. This will include:

  • Working to achieve the missional objectives of The Salvation Army which includes sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and meeting the human needs of the local community without prejudice
  • As part of the Dublin City Missional Development team, applying one’s faith in the development of the Community Café programme and wider missional activities
  • Sharing one’s knowledge of Christianity with those expressing an interest and effectively guiding them in their own development
  • Ensuring the effective setup and ongoing missional development of the Community Café
  • Recruitment and managing staff for the Community Café
  • Assisting with the effective promotion of the the Community Café within the local community
  • Providing high quality food and drink, maintaining the highest standards of service
  • Ordering stock and maintaining effective stock and financial control
  • Adhering to the highest Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and Environmental Health standards

The Community Cafe is part of The Salvation Army integrated community mission in Dublin, and as such seeks to blend a Christian ethos into services benefiting the local community. Therefore, candidates must be committed Christians with a live church connection.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate: An understanding of the Christian faith, its practical application, confidence in sharing it with others and guiding them in their own development. A heart for the cultivation of community and Christian mission. A demonstrable ability to effectively oversee a café setting including the preparation of food, management of staff and effective financial control.
