Base Manager and Pilot- Kenya

Mission Aviation Fellowship

MAF has been working in Kenya since 1959, reaching some of the most isolated communities in the world.

Marsabit is a town in the Northern Marsabit County in Kenya which is home to our MAF Kenya sub-base. The arid climate of the northern lowlands exposes this community to frequent droughts forcing the men far from home in search of grazing land for their animals. This leaves the most vulnerable with very little food and many go hungry for days.

Working with our partners, MAF is able to support the relief effort to this area.

We are now looking for a Base Manager/Pilot to continue this work.

The role is right at the forefront of MAF’s work in Kenya. You will be living and serving amongst the isolated communities of northern Kenya. This position requires a highly motivated individual with energy and initiative to actively promote MAF’s work with mission organisations and NGO’s in the community. There is the option of living either in Loglogo or Marsabit town depending on the family circumstances and preferences. As a Pilot/Manager of a remote base, high levels of self-discipline and maturity are required.

Responsibilities:

You will provide a friendly and efficient service to our customers always ensuring that bookings and other service requests are processed according to the correct procedures.

The base facilities need to be maintained with appropriate care and security  provided to any MAF aircraft positioned at the base.

You will also assist the Office and Accommodation Manager to manage the rental, upkeep, safety and security of MAF properties and rented houses at the base.

You will contribute to the financial management of the base by providing the Operations Director with sufficient information for preparing the operational budget and controlling all financial transactions that take place.

As Pilot in Command you will conduct mission flights in accordance with MAF procedures, providing a customer focused flight service and actively participating in MAF's quality and safety management systems.

You will also be expected to maintain your flying qualifications in accordance with MAF and national regulations, ensuring national licensing and medical requirements are met.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

You will hold a CPL licence with a minimum of 500 flight hours including 300 PIC.
