Area Finance Manager - Location - Flexible
You will provide the financial management of a programme and assistance to other programmes within a designated area. This will include preparing and/or supporting the preparation of programme annual budgets, based on the strategic plans, for approval by the board;
You will manage the working capital and cash flow of programmes and report financial results and data to the Ashford support office.
You will need to oversee the work of local accounts departments and when necessary provide cover for other finance managers, this will include supervising the finance staff in their duties, providing training, development, mentoring and overseeing the payments of wages and benefits to the national staff.
You will need to manage the financial risk by implementing and maintaining accounting systems and internal controls that comply with MAFI finance manuals, carrying out internal audits from time to time and developing and improving systems and controls.
The role will also include fulfilling the requirements of regulating authorities by arranging external audits, filing of accounts, preparing and submission of any tax returns and forms and also supporting staff completing this documentation.
As part of the leadership of the programmes within that area you will need to monitor financial performance and reccommend appropriate corrective action as and when required. You will also need to advise on the financial implications of proposals and provide advice and support on finance matters to programme and finance managers.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Minimum 3 years accounting experience, including at least 2 years' experience in a supervisory capacity
Experience in accounting systems and internal control procedures
Experience in preparing budgets and accounts
Experience in managing a finance team
Availability to travel
Cross cultural experience
Experience of MAF finance systems
The ability to research and assimilate laws and regulations and evaluate their impact
There is an occupational requirement for overseas staff to be committed Christians, sent and supported by their home Church, and able to support and promote the Christian ethos and beliefs of MAF as a mission organisation through taking part in Christian activities such as Church events, prayer meetings etc. All roles (unless otherwise specified) require some personal support raising to be carried out under the guidance and training of MAF UK.
